As usual, the most entertaining part of the Miss USA (or any) pageant was not the stunning ballgowns or the sexy bikinis – it was the interview question. This year, two ladies of the final five totally flubbed their chance to sound intelligent, making viewers who swore off potato chips about an hour earlier feel slightly better about themselves.
Miss Rhode Island, Anea Garcia, was the first keep up with the tradition of pageant contestants of choking in the last round.
She was asked, “Recently comedian Jerry Seinfeld spoke out against political correctness in our culture. Do you think political correctness is hurting or helping our culture and why?”
“That’s a very good question. I think that it’s a balance of both. We definitely need … I’m sorry, may you please repeat the question once more,” Garcia says, before attempting to answer again. “I think that it’s a balance of both. We need … we need the people to remind us, especially politicians, to remind us what to do right and what to do wrong, and it’s never …” she says before being cut off for time.
